    I've been a customer at Joe's on Davie many times over the years and have never had a really bad experience there, so you can imagine my surprise at the complete failure that was my experience yesterday. First off, the place is a "seat yourself" restaurant and that's what I did only to be repeatedly ignored as other customers came in, sat down and immediately received attention (and menus). After watching the waitress whiz by me several times with not a glance, I finally perked up and snagged her as she flew by, stating that I would like a menu too! I thought things might be back on track after my order was taken and my food arrived in a timely manner, but the Benedict I ordered soon proved to be one of the most shockingly bad plates of food I've ever been served. Since when is this dish supposed to be spicy hot? It's poached eggs, English muffin, ham and hollandaise! Which of those ingredients is supposed to burn your mouth with peppery spicy heat? Not only that, the ham had that distinctively sour "off" taste and the hollandaise had its own unrecognizable funk. After two bites, I waited for the waitress to come and check on me, but that never happened. I had to call her over and say that I couldn't eat this. She did not inquire as to what was wrong nor offer any apology. She only asked if I wanted to order another item and brought back the menu. After contemplating whether I was willing to risk another bad plate of food, I decided I'd cut my loses and decline an alternative. After informing the waitress of this, she actually had the nerve to start writing me up a bill! She wanted to charge me for a pop I hadn't even drunk even though the place had served me a plate of inedible food! I refused to pay and made sure the discussion regarding this was at least audible to the rest of the restaurant. Then I left saying I would never return and I never shall. Stay away from Joe's on Denman!
